He died on 30 Jan 1753 in Pleasant Valley, Monmouth, New Jersey Colony. He was buried in Schenck/Couwenhoven Cemetery, Pleasant Valley (near Holmdel), Monmouth, New Jersey. Re-interment from Schenck-Cowenhoven Cemetery to Holmdel Cemetery.

He and his brother Gerret left Long Island about 1695 and moved to Pleasent Valley, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Sarah and Jan were first cousins. They were born at the same place.
